Tick-borne rickettsial diseases
Rickettsial diseases are caused by bacteria belonging to the spotted fever group of the Rickettsia genus, which are transmitted by “hard ticks” (widely distributed across the world). Tick-borne rickettsial diseases include:
- Rocky Mountain spotted fever (RMSF), which occurs throughout the United States, most frequently between April and September
- African tick bite fever
- Queensland tick typhus
- North Asian tick fever
- Boutonneuse fever.
