Addictions and COVID-19
Addictions to substances such as tobacco, alcohol and drugs, but also behavioural addictions (gambling, food, Internet and new technologies, doping) are significant risk factors to public health, especially in situations like the COVID-19 pandemic, which require a period of shutdowns, closures and forced self-isolation at home. The Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) has launched a dedicated section on addictions in relation to COVID-19, where healthcare workers and the general population can find support material and further information to help them cope with the emergency.
