Patients awaiting or having undergone arthroplasty: advice from RIAP

To ensure adequate resources for the care of COVID-19 patients, while continuing to provide emergency surgery, several elective surgeries, such as hip and knee replacement, are currently being postponed.

In the meantime, patients awaiting or having recently undergone arthroplasty are expected to take care of their joints while they are self-isolating in their homes. But how? The Italian Arthroplasty Registry (Registro Italiano Artroprotesi - RIAP) of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS), in collaboration with the Italian Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (Società italiana di Ortopedia e Traumatologia - SIOT), has published practical advice for people on how to improve their joint health.
