Training of healthcare professionals is one of the cornerstones of the “Surveillance of children aged 0-2 years”, as it provides both updates on the determinants of health and methodological tools to manage the Surveillance.
Training on the more methodological aspects ensures that procedures are carried out consistently by the professionals so that comparable data are available across Regions. Such topics are further explored during a face-to-face classroom course designed for the regional coordinators and their staff, who in turn are responsible for local training activities.
At the same time, updates on the determinants of health ensure that professionals have the latest information for advising parents on appropriate behaviours to promote their children’s health.
For the 2018-2019 data collection, these updates were delivered through an e-learning course: “GenitoriPiù. Determinants of health to be promoted for the well-being of mothers and children, through the empowerment of professionals and parents” (2018-2019).
